Abstract [eng] The aim of the research is to identify the impact of riding therapy on the psychomotorics of a child suffering from autism. The methods of the research: linear experiment and quantitative observation method to perform which a standardized, structured observation protocol has been created. The experiment took place from June 2009 to September 2009 in the centre of riding services at Kurtuvėnai Regional Park, Lithuania. A seven-year-old boy diagnosed with severe autism spectrum disorder participated in the research; he was selected by the method of target sampling. To develop the respondent's psychomotoric development riding therapy was selected and applied once a week. The duration of one session was from 30 to 45 minutes. During the experiment, when observing the changes in psychomotoric development positive changes were noticed in all areas. The most distinct changes have been recorded before and during riding in the categories of motorics, perception, attentiveness, independence, tolerance, and perception of risk. It is likely that these changes could have appeared because of getting used to repeated actions and riding therapy as an interesting and motivating activity. It is concluded that riding therapy had positive influence on the development of the psychomotorics of the respondent, presumably because of pleasant activity that motivates him.
