Abstract [eng] |
Using analysis, comparison and descriptive methods the article concisely overviews some of the most popular new church movements in the world, highlighting one of the functioning in Lithuania, Šiauliai: the Intercessors of the Lamb. It looks into their appearance causes and activity guidelines, draws attention to the features highlighting the community call. In 2008, in Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI said: “these communities and movements are one of the most important innovations stirred up by the Holy Spirit for implementation of the Vatican Assembly II”. Summing up the Pope’s words we can say that the movements are not an answer to all the questions raised by secularization, but they surely are a medium enabling the maturation of a believer’s identity, promote understanding that the Gospel is a Good News, that it is good to be a Christian. Summary: the new church movements are able to fully engage in pastoral work of the modern Church. Conferences, retreats, prayer seminars – all these may be not important to most of the modern people, but are important to the real witnesses. The new church movements discussed here perfectly respond to that by disseminating re-evangelization ideas that emerged during Vatican Assembly II, inspired by the Holy Spirit, very important nowadays, and based on charisma. |
