The article analyzes the activities of Lithuanian ATEITININKAI (Catholic Federation ATEITIS) as a cultural phenomenon, describes its history, the renewal of religious outlook in the nation. ATEITININKAI federation, established in 1910, grew into a strong social-cultural trend in interwar Lithuania. In the country's history, ATEITININKAI was and remains a time-tested community, adjusting Christian moral truths to modern days. Particularly meaningful were ATEITININKAI activities in educating the intelligentsia. A lot of famous people belonged to them, such as a novelist V. Mykolaitis-Putinas, poets B. Brazdžionis, K. Bradūnas, philosophers S. Šalkauskis, A. Maceina, J. Girnius, historian Z. Ivinskis, public figures P. Dovydaitis, J. Ambrazevičius-Brazaitis, A. Damuišis and many others. ATEITININKAI played an important role in Lithuania's life, fighting for national independence. Acting in the underground, they not only followed the principles of Catholicism and nationality, but also strove to implement restitution goals, nurtured freedom fighters and their supporters. |
