Abstract [eng] |
Recently primary school pupils’ unwillingness to read is observed. They spend more time at computer and other means of electronic communication, which have negative impact on nervous system and function of brains. For these reasons the duration of attention becomes shorter and inability to concentrate appears. Meanwhile, the parameter of individuality requires developing spiritual and creative citizens of society. In this respect, fiction is very significant. Conscious motivation for reading as the basis for the education of a spiritual personality may be induced by purposively organised individual reading. Unfortunately, the Lithuanian language curriculum of primary education does not provide any references to organization of such reading, it does not provide for the lessons for the discussions of the read works and the actualization of reading motivation. Panoramic view of the execution of individual reading in primary education classes is determined on the grounds of the theoretical analysis of the publications of literary criticism and didactics, the overview of the readers’ cards at libraries and by employing the questionnaire survey method. Individual reading is not obligatory in primary classes, therefore the purposeful individual reading is not organised. The questions of its implementation are left to discretion of primary class teachers. The teachers understand the importance of reading, thus they do not neglect it. [...]. |
