Abstract [eng] Data of topographic running paths between control points allows stating that, while completing orienteering routes in the same terrain and applying the same training method for many times, an orienteer gets adjusted to the terrain and the impact of the training on orienteering abilities decreases because the terrain becomes too familiar. During research period all the parameters of orienteering abilities improved. Within one exercise the speed of mastery of the route increased on average by 0.035 m/s and relative heart rate – by approximately 1 percent. Standard deviation of heart rate decreased on average by 0.7 beats/minute. A strong correlation was found between relative distance while running in the familiar route and the other three parameters: average route completion speed (r = 0.647), the intensity of movement according to average heart rate (r = 0.673) and continuousness of movement according to heart rate standard deviation (r = -0.736).
