Abstract [eng] In contemporary conditions of society development particularly high requirements are raised for teacher activities; therefore, training of specialists of this area is a relevant issue of educational policy. Rationally cohering changes in the society and his/her daily work, the teacher carries out the role of both the subject teacher and information renderer, consultant, social educator, class leader, senior friend, adviser, cooperating colleague, innovator, organiser of the teaching/learning process (Bitinas, 2000; Tumėnienė V., Janiūnaitė B., 2002). In the conditions of fast social changes it is important for the teacher to acquire competencies enabling to carry out both key and new emerging additional roles professionally. These and other reasons, emerging due to these times, increasingly actualise issues of changes in teacher training and problems arising in the context of the reform.
