Abstract [eng] The article analyses the emergence reasons of euronovel as the concept existing in modern Lithuanian literature. The concept “euronovel” came to our literary critics’ works around 1995 and rather witnessed our illusions or complexes than reflected the real value of the work. At the beginning, euronovel was understood as a literary concept, which anyhow had to get the evaluative aspect. However, this concept could not even be equated to the literary concept. Euronovel as the concept created confusion, because, being of the marketing nature and sooner performing the label’s function, which was instantly used by publishers, was moved to the literature field. Thus, euronovel marks not only the work’s value, but becomes the label, which must attract the buyer’s attention. We believe this concept sooner or later will disappear from the works of literature scientists and literary critics.
