On January 11, 2011, we shall commemorate professor Leonas Jovaiša’s ninetieth jubilee. The professor was born in 1921, in Lieplaukė, Telšiai district. As it is known, in 1950, Leonas Jovaiša graduated from Vilnius University, in 1964, he defended the dissertation in Moscow Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, in 1971, he became a habilitated doctor and in 1972, a professor. Before his scientific and academic career Leonas Jovaiša had taught in Anykščiai, Telšiai, Kelmė, in Trakai and Telšiai Teachers’ Seminaries, Klaipėda Teachers’ Institute, worked as a secretary in the Research Institute of Schools run by the Ministry of Education. Later he worked in Vilnius Pedagogical Institute, Conservatoire, Vilnius University and Kaunas Technological University. The professor supervised over forty doctoral students who successfully defended dissertations and work in academic, research, educational, managerial and other areas both in Lithuania and abroad. |
