During this investigation we analysed the gas formation process in the landfill of Radviliškis town and computed waste gas emissions between 1982 and 2060. The volumes of methane emissions and total gas emissions were calculated using the LandGEM gas emission model. This model is based on the rate of decay of the first layer of waste, which is used to evaluate the emissions of decay of the deposited solid household waste in the landfill. According to the calculations, the maximum volume of methane and other gases was produced in 2008 (304760m3 of methane, 609519 m3 of total gas). In 2018 the amount of gases is predicted to decrease by 40% compared to 2008, and in 2060 the gas emissions are expected to decrease by 92% compared to their maximum value. |
