Investigation into urban wind energy resources is presented in the paper. Wind speed and direction measurements in Šiauliai city have been statistically assessed. Urban wind turbines additionally offer a possibility of renewable energy generation. There are many developments on the market for small wind turbines. Wind turbines of these types could be placed on many urban buildings and also next to private houses. Calculating the energy potential in the turbine building environment is very important, because the results significantly reveal the suitability of the chosen wind turbine. These data are useful for choosing wind turbines by such parameters: nominal wind speed, start up wind speed, stop wind speed, and positioning. |
