The article discusses several types of personnel turnover: controlled, uncontrolled, functional, dysfunctional, voluntary and involuntary. It is usually considered that staff turnover is negative, costly phenomenon in the organization, which must be reduced, but staff turnover may be not only harmful to the organization, but also useful. Staff turnover takes place due to various reasons, resulting from actions of both the employee and the organization. The paper further discusses the influence of wage on workers’ change. The article also sets out ways to retain highly productive workers: application of the adaptation program, adequate work load, motivation, employee loyalty programs, family- oriented organization policy and more. In addition, the authors present a model of assessment for workers, making it easier to make the personnel- related decisions. The results showed that the greatest impact on staff turnover at Siauliai University is made by low wages, employees feel wrongly evaluated and rewarded for their work. The family- oriented organization policy is to have stronger motivation and incentive power to workers over the material means. |
