Abstract [eng] Bullying is conscious, non-provoked and constantly recurring negative behaviour of one person or a few of them, directed against a person for whom it is difficult to defend himself/herself. Bullying can manifest through direct, indirect, physical or verbal forms of behaviour. This phenomenon is very big problem that is related to pupils’ health disorders and negative life peculiarities. Bullying at school is a huge problem at Šiauliai secondary schools. Every second 10-16 year old pupil is bullied often (once or several times a week). More often bullied are boys; they are the initiators of bullying too. The victims of bullying more often are pupils of lower grades (grade 6-7). Verbal forms of bullying (nicknaming, teasing, slander) are more frequent. The most usual places for bullying are those where control of adults is less tight: in the corridor, rooms, school yard. The investigations have shown that pupils would like to be indifferent to bullying or they become initiators of bullying. Children are not seeking help from adults. As such situation exists, educational institutions should create long term and effective system of social and educational help for prevention and rectifying of this problem. In addition, the institutions should implement the straight policy of no tolerance of bullying.
