Abstract [eng] In the texts of Eastern Upper Lithuanian subdialects stylistic figures which are formed with diminutives were found. The importance of diminutival hypocoristic words for stylistic figures is not the same: a) a diminutive is one of the most important constituents; b) the importance of a diminutive is greater than that of other nouns; c) the importance of diminutive and other nouns is the same. The first group includes litotes, hyperbole (lexical semantic stylistic figures) and climax (syntactic figure). To form these figures derivational diminutival and hypocoristic meanings and the very derivation of diminutives (different suffixation and derivations of several levels) are important. The second group includes simile, metaphor (lexical semantic stylistic figures) and syntactic parallelism, antithesis (syntactic figures). The essence of all these figures is a kind of comparison, contrast, identity, so it is important what the object of comparison is. When it is compared or identified with some entity expressed by a diminutive, diminutival hypocoristic word meaning, purposeful and evaluative functions in the text are highlighted. The third group includes lexical semantic stylistic figures metonymy and repetition, enumeration (syntactic figures) which can be formed with non-diminutival nouns as well. The usage of diminutives gives the colour of tenderness and pleasure and the profusion, variety, different size is pointed out. In the subdialects of Utena, Širvintos, and Vilnius stylistic figures used diminutives formed with the most popular Lithuanian diminutival suffixes -elis, -ė, -ėlis, -ė, -ukas, -ytė, -okas and were derived from Lithuanian words or barbarisms. The stylistic figures in the texts of subdialects mostly show derivational diminutival and hypocoristic meanings of diminutives and perform purposeful and evaluative functions.
