The researches of youth situation in Lithuania, which reflected some problems of the whole country, were performed in 2004, 2007. In these researches sufficient attention was not paid to specificity of separate regions of the country, sections of data analysis, which could emphasize youth situation in a particular city, were not done. The present research introduces research into youth situation in Šiauliai City oriented towards the context of active participation in organizations. The research revealed that participation of young people in activities of organizations is determined by attractive ideas propagated in them, forms of activity, available information, and an interesting leader. Support of friends and relatives is also important for young people. The following aspects are important for them: to acquire new knowledge, information, experience, self-realisation, communication. The part of young people, which does not participate in activity of organizations and has no wish to participate in it, names the reasons, which are related to their considerable busyness, lack of information and ideas unconformable to their interests. According to the research data, it can be stated that young people assume responsibility for themselves and perceive the role of youth organization (57.8%). The remaining category of respondents transferred the responsibility to the following institutions: schools (39.3%), municipality board for youth’s affairs (29.9%). Only a small part of respondents stated that parents have to take care of them (16.4%). The young people almost have no expectations that the mayor (16.7%) or deputy mayors (5.9%) would take care of them. The role of association of youth organizations “Apskritasis stalas” is very mean in Šiauliai City. 21.1% of young people of Šiauliai City said that namely this association should take care of youth.
