Abstract [eng] The article discusses the issue of prestige of Lithuanian language. The article seeks to investigate teachers’ opinions related to the usage of correct language, to find out how they understand the prestige of Lithuanian language, whether they have motivation to speak correctly and whether the present language environment satisfies them. With regard to the results of the sociolinguistic investigation, the conclusion is that the surveyed respondents (the teachers) are not indifferent to language issues: they are concerned with both the prestige of Lithuanian and the language used during lessons at school and elsewhere. The results of the research could be useful in dealing with the current issues on language policy and forming a positive image of Lithuanian.
