Abstract [eng] In transferring load by small areas, concentration of stresses forms. Correct assessment of stress concentration enables to increase the durability and efficiency of a structure. In order to rationally design structures it is vital to know the real distribution of stresses in members under bearing stress. Analysis of stresses- deformations in plane and spatial members is presented here. The ratio between their height and width has been changed from 0,5 to 1,5. The stresses have been calculated by using the method of reference grid. Direct, circumferential, principal and equivalent stresses have been determined according to different theories of strength. When members are subjected to opposite local pressure loads, complex stresses develop. The intensity of stress concentration zones, their dimensions and shape depend on the size and position of the area under load as well as on the ratio between the sides of the members. Calculations of equivalent stresses and their reliefs enable to establish the relative bearing capacity as well as reinforcement zones of the membersand to employ the properties of a material in a more economical way.
