Abstract [eng] Using the concepts of stratification (Lietuvos socialinė struktūra, 2005), and women's particular social group (Feminizmo ekskursai, 1995) in the article different features of the material, social and cultural life of women's groups are analysed. The author uses existential and phenomenological approach and the information of life histories; the existential experience of women by the method of sociological research is analysed. In the first part the author is researching the style of the aristocrat women, their individuality, the seeking of beauty. Sustaining the memory book of G. Giunterytė Puzinienė, the author of the paper reveals the peculiarity of women's surrounding environment and their self-expression ways. The aristocrat women in the XIX c. lived in a world of flux, where mobility and experimentation have turned into core signifiers of the lifestyles. To seek adventure, to live experimental life, to probe the limits of one's identity, has become a singularly powerful motif in elite culture. Travels cultivated their personality, independence and curiosity, because the wanderers can face with new people and new places. The textual and visual forms of travelling memory produced discourses of 'otherness', cultural events, past of places, peculiarities of cities, relationships with relatives and friends. [...].
