Analysis of costs of prevention and appraisal of quality of product and internal and external losses is presented in the paper. Costs of seeking quality are costs for quality prevention when the way for defects to occur is blocked, as well as appraisal costs when product conformance to requirements is assessed. Costs of losses are internal (when too much of unusable product is manufactured) and external (these are related to complaints of consumers, decrease of number of customers and market share). To compete in the market successfully it is necessary to reduce internal and external losses to minimum and give more attention to costs of prevention and appraisal of product quality. Results of theoretical research into quality costs are supported by experimental research data. |
