Abstract [eng] The qualitative changes of the composition of the landfill leachate were examined by applying the method of infrared spectrophotometry. The attempt was made to reduce the concentration of hazardous organic pollutants in the leachate by stirring the leachate in the alkaline environment with the excess of air and by adding hydrogen peroxide. The reduction of the concentration of these pollutants was recorded by FTIR spectrophotometer. The substances of the leachate absorbed the infrared rays of certain length and the absorption spectra were shown on the screen of the spectrophotometer. The leachate spectra were compared with the spectra of other hazardous substances. It was established that the lengths of the spectra waves of these substances correspond to the lengths of the spectra waves of the substances contained in the leachate. Four types of organic combinations, three of which are an environmental hazard, were detected in the leachate by FTIR spectrophotometer.
