In result of increased economic integration the international division of labour also increased, providing more possibilities for specialisation. The developed countries tend to specialise in production of labour- intensive products, also aiming to import the raw materials and intermediate goods from lower-income countries. In turn, the economically weaker countries seek to attract foreign investments entrenching their positions in the higher value-added production chain because of the cheaper factors of production and spillovers of technology. |
