Abstract [eng] The first chapter of the final master’s thesis describes music education as a component of primary education, examines the documents regulating music education in primary classes, describes the age and development characteristics of primary school students, reviews the principles of primary music education program organization, music education and music lesson organization. The second chapter examines the factors that determine the quality of music lessons in primary classes. Professional and personal requirements are presented for primary school teachers, the activities are described of a music teacher, the professional competencies of a music teacher are identified, the educational environment of music and the importance of the psychological microclimate in the initial stage of education are discussed. The third chapter presents an analysis of empirical research. The aim of the master’s thesis is to reveal the factors determining the quality of music lessons in primary classes. Tasks: to perform the analysis of documents regulating music education in primary classes; to examine the requirements for music teachers in primary classes; discuss the professional competencies of music teachers; to carry out an empirical study to find out the opinion of music teachers about the factors determining the quality of lessons in primary classes. The object of the research is the quality of music lessons in primary classes. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, legal acts and documents, semi-structured interview, generalization. 5 primary classes music teachers of Šiauliai city participated in the research. The study was conducted in May 2020. The empirical research conclusion: the quality of primary school music lessons is determined by the pedagogical didactic and general competencies, their desire to improve, love for their work, creative solutions that enable children to actively, curiously develop in musical activities. The quality of lessons is also determined by the children's emotional state, their mood and concentration. Teachers motivate children by involving them in active forms of music education, increasing their self-esteem and satisfying their needs for self-expression through performances and concerts for parents and members of the community. In order to improve the quality of existing lessons, it is appropriate to reduce the existing number of students in the classroom, provide all necessary tools, instruments, the educational environment must meet all requirements, and the institution should allow teachers to work without unnecessary activities.
