The aim of this article is to share information about importance of the open access to scientific publications and to examine the problems and possibilities related to the access of scientific publications in Lithuania. An investigation described in this article proves that majority of Lithuanian scientific production is not accessible to scientists of this country via subscribed databases that are available in Lithuania. In addition, most of publishers have their official statements on open access and allow scientists to put their articles to open access repositories with or without any specific requirements. An overview of the strategic recommendations prepared by the most key European scientific policy institutions which could be adopted for development of Lithuanian research, dissemination as well as application of the scientific results is also provided in the article. |
