People who work with garbage exist in every society and in every time. Only its form can change. On one hand, they do the forbidding work. On the other hand, they do a very useful work. They collect and/or sort recyclables from garbage. The aim of this paper is to present one of the least investigated groups of our society - scavengers who work in Lithuanian dumps. In the first part of this article we present the phenomenon of scavenging and people called scavengers. In the second part of this article we present a fragment of research conducted in Lithuanian dumps. |
