Abstract [eng] |
The dissertation analyzes the accentuation of Lithuanian suffixal hydronyms based on the principles of morphologic accentology. 44 suffixal hydronym groups were examined. The dissertation discusses hydronym accentuation tendencies and factors that determine it, including the relationship with the accentuation of suffixal appelatives, the accentual value of suffixes, the accentual qualities of base words, the specificity of accentuation within dialects, etc. The most significant findings of hydronym accentuation analysis are: 1) the suffixal accentuation of hydronyms is the most widespread one; 2) the hydronyms of root and mobile accentuation usually reflect relic accentuation; 3) the majority of suffixal hydronyms containing variants of root accentuation and mobile/root accentuation are more common in western and northern Lithuania; 4) hydronyms of traditional mobile accentuation are typical of the eastern and southern Lithuania. |
