Abstract [eng] The master’s thesis analyzes the concept of employee promotion as a process of increasing employee motivation, the peculiarities of their application. Analyzing the labor law and other laws in force in the Republic of Lithuania, as well as the provisions of collective agreements registered in Lithuania, the main types of employee incentives were identified and investigated in the written work: direct material promotion, indirect material incentives and intangible incentives. In order to reveal the content of the types of incentives, specific measures for the promotion of employees, the conditions and procedure for their appointment were also examined, as well as the evaluation of the Lithuanian courts and legal doctrine in this regard. The paper also examines the application of the principle of equality in the promotion of employees, presents the relationship between discrimination in the promotion of employees and employee differentiation. In order to reveal the problems of application of the principle of equality at work, the interpretations of the Court of Justice of the European Union are based on the practice and the practice is formulated, which is analyzed in cases of application of incentive and motivation measures. The paper also presents the peculiarities of the promotion of civil servants and other persons with the status of civil servants, discusses the laws and by-laws regulating the application of incentive measures.
