Abstract [eng] |
This paper examines methods that are intended to evaluate the usability of electronic health record systems. Medical staff has to spend a lot of time filling out documents in systems that are affected by usability issues. This negatively affects patient care and wastes medical staff time. A literature review was performed during which traditional usability evaluation methods were found, as well as methods, that are intended to evaluate the usability of medical systems. Based on the gathered information, a new usability evaluation method and set of heuristics specifically for electronic health record system usability evaluation has been proposed. A system user interface case study was conducted to validate the developed method and to prove its effectiveness. |
