Abstract [eng] CERN and other high energy physics centers are planning experiments that require scintillation detectors with exemplary time resolution that cannot be reached using conventional scintillating crystals. The main goal of this work is revealing processes of excitation transfer in scintillating materials, which are important for developing efficient, radiation tolerant detectors of ionizing radiation with targeted time resolution of 10 ps. Combining results obtained by measuring non-linear optical absorption in pump and probe configuration with coincidence time resolution measurements allowed to investigate nonequilibrium charge carrier dynamics in lead tungstate, cerium doped lutetium orthosilicate and gadolinium gallium garnet type scintillators. Influence of charge traps and co-doping on luminescence dynamics was revealed. Perspectives of ceramic scintillators were investigated.
