Abstract [eng] The importance of the research. An educator’s profession has been associated with a calling for a long time. A number of scientists have been researching a pedagogical calling as one of the most essential motives that influence the choice of an educator’s profession. However, living conditions change and people’s mentality changes. Now teachers tend to choose an educator’s profession not due to the calling but due to other reason. When they start working at school, they do not have motivation to work and do not seek to improve in their work which is directly related to a quality of learning of the children they educate. In this paper, the conception of a decision and choice of a particular profession as well as an attitude towards an educator’s profession are analysed: peculiarities, problems and opportunities. A systematic view towards a career is introduced as well asthe objective and subjective factors, which are necessary when planning and pursuing an educator’s profession, are discussed. It is emphasized that when economic, social and technologic environment changes, the concept of a career, an educator’s status and competences also change. The object of the research is the factors of one’s choice of an educator’s profession and contentment with their career. The aim of the research is to discover the factors of one’s choice of an educator’s profession and contentment with their careerof the educators from different stages of their career. The hypotheses of the research: 1. It is probable thatthe educators oflate career have chosen their studies due to the calling, whereas the educators of early and middle career have chosen their studies due to other motives. 2. It is probable thatthe respondentshave been satisfied with their occupation due to the outer factors such as rapport with their colleagues, a sense of security and the work they have to do. 3. It is probable thatthe educators oflate career are more satisfied with their occupation.
