Abstract [eng] The aim of the Master Thesis – to analyze Vincas Krėvė’s short stories „Silkės“ and „Žmoną pamokė“ from the aspect of location: to discuss what linguistic means are used in creation of characters’ images, how the time and space are expressed. The fragments of text describing location were analyzed by using the methods of description, analysis, interpretation. The collected characters’ denominations were divided into two groups: male essences and essences denominated by nouns of masculine gender and female essences. 6 nomination lines for denomination of men and 6 nomination lines for denomination of women were formed and analyzed. After analyzing the examples it was determined that the characters were denominated by proper names (Kušlius, Gerdvilienė, Marcelė, Monikė), common nouns (begėdis, žydas, mergelė, žmona), more rarely – by word-groups (pavargėlis žydas, tarnaitė algininkė, tėvas girtuoklis, pasaulio išgama), personal (jis, ji), demonstrative (tasai, toji) and defining pronouns (patsai, pati), participle (nuvargęs). The opened and closed, real and conditional spaces of the short stories were analyzed. The contrast image of described spaces is created by using the visual, auditory and tactual details. The duration of action in Vincas Krėvė’s short story „Silkės“ may be interpreted in two ways: one can think that the action lasts for three weeks and several days or less than a week; but after all, the main narration lasts for two days. In the short story „Žmoną pamokė“ the action lasts only for two days. In the short stories the time of twenty-four hours is described and two seasons – winter and summer – are mentioned. The real time of narration is interrupted by characters’ memories and dialogs.
