Abstract [eng] The paper discusses the non-formal education situation in Lithuania and abroad, also there is analyzed non-formal musical education specifics in Skuodas district Ylakiai town. The aim of this work – Skuodas Art School Ylakiai department musical education‘s situation‘s evaluation. Research objectives: to review situation of non-formal art education in Lithuania and abroad; to analyze education’s policy documents that are regulating non-formal education and scientific literature; to explore the non-formal art education’s situation of Skuodas Art School Ylakiai department (of students, their parents and educators approach); to analyze the positive and negative sides of education, to identify school’s strengths and weaknesses. The research object – non-formal musical education in Ylakiai. Research was accomplished in Skuodas Art School in department of Ylakiai. By using questionnaire survey method 6 educators, 35 students and 27 parents was interviewed. The analysis of the scientific literature, educational documents and results of the research provide the following conclusions: the majority of interviewed Skuodas Art School Ylakiai department students predicate that they like to learn music, they are feeling good, although many of them admit, that not everything goes well. They are participating in non-formal education activity, because they can spend their time meaningful and interesting, and they can better express themselves. Skuodas Art School’s Ylakiai department’s positive education sides could be: enough good students and their parents in Art School organized education’s quality evaluation; education’s environment safety; good relationships between students and educators; competent and experienced educators. Possible negative sides of the process: lack of parents’ interest in school’s activity; lack of sociality; lack of part of students learning motivation; incompatible of time to tasks between general education and art schools; part of educators negative personal work perspective evaluation.
