Master's thesis analyses public participation in the environmental management of the municipality of the city of Siauliai.The theoretical part of the Master‘s work gives analysis ofLithuanian and foreign scientific literature, legislation and other documents that help reveal public participation in environmental importance of the forms of legal options.Great attention is given to legislation on public participation in decision-making processes.It also looked at what are the main obstacles for the low level of public participation in environmental protection.The empirical part analyzes NGO environmental projectsof the Siauliaicitythat revealsNGO involvement in environmental projects supported by the municipality, and also allows to findout how theseprojects affect the environment quality.As well, empirical part presents acase which helps to reveal NGO‘s and Siauliai Municipality participation, communication features, obstacles to cooperation, the practical implementation of the legalframework. The evaluation of the resultsshows that NGO‘s strongly contribute to environmental improvements targeted implementation of environmental projects.It was also found out that the main obstacles leading to lack of cooperation between NGO‘s and municipalities is the lack of public education, leadership and lack of competence. |
