Abstract [eng] It is important to investigate the education field of intercultural area because this competence is closely related to the modern society and cultural diversity. The education of intercultural competence is included in the strategy of education system and training programs. The aim of research – to reveal the education of intercultural competence in English lessons of 5th-8th forms. The object is named as the education of intercultural competence during the English lessons. In master thesis the analysis of literature and documents helped to reveal the basic concepts (competence, intercultural competence) theoretical aspects and their component parts. The content analysis used in the empirical part of the paper helped to analyse the integration of intercultural competence in textbooks. The survey of teachers (semi-structured interviews) revealed their attitudes and approaches used in 5th-8th forms of English lessons while educating intercultural competence. Four English lessons textbooks of 5th-8th forms were chosen for content analysis. The study is added with the survey of semi structured interviews with 20 teachers of English lessons. The study confirmed the hypothesis that integration of intercultural competence elements in English lessons of 5th-8th forms is different. Also it is disclosed additional teachers approaches (without textbooks) which help to develop intercultural competence.
