Abstract [eng] The paper discusses the theoretical aspect of factors determining teacher’s profession prestige. The aim of the Master thesis is educational process participants’ attitude to factors determining teacher’s profession prestige of X educational institution. In order to achieve the aim some challenges were posed: according to the analysis of scientific literature to summarize the factors that determine the prestige of teachers’ profession, to analyze the teachers’ attitude to the prestige of the profession by public literacy, personal and economic usefulness factors, to analyze the students’ attitude to prestige of teacher’s profession by public literacy, personal and economic usefulness factors, to analysis parents’ attitude to prestige of teacher’s profession by public literacy. The object of research is educational process participants’ opinion. The research was done in X educational institution, 41 teachers, 19 students and 20 parents participated in. Questionnaire method was used to find out the attitude of education participants to the factors determining teacher’s profession prestige. In this paper, it is considered that prestige - public opinion about <...> occupation, profession or human dignity and significance. This opinion is a standard of evaluating <...> people. The teacher’s profession lost the prestige; various educational documents indicate that teacher is an agent of the main educational change and school improvement so it is necessary to restore the prestige of teacher’s profession. After analyzing scientists’ works in this range it is evident that there are plenty of works which analyse teacher’s profession prestige and status highlighting certain factors. However, little research work is carried out in Lithuania, which analyses how teacher’s profession prestige position of determining factors is formed in certain educational institution All respondents (teachers, pupils and parents) opinions were coincided analysing importance of the group of public usefulness factors raising the prestige of the profession. Teacher should love their profession and children, be motivated, have proper teacher’s character features and ethical, seek to improve the quality of their work. Private usefulness seems to teachers very significant but insufficient. Teachers participate in professional development courses, seminars but mostly prefer individual training method. Teachers and parents state that various benefits are poor reward for a very difficult job. The respondents identified the importance of career in economic usefulness factor group. During the study of teachers became apparent, that salary is an important profession prestige factor but it is less important than students’ learning and teachers’ qualification. Parents maintain that salary increasing is the most effective to raise the prestige of the profession.
