Problem-oriented question: How social educators evaluate the present situation and what areas need improvement? Research object: Bullying prevention implementation. Hypothesis: It is likely that bullying prevention at schools needs improvement, such as better parent involvement and participation of entire school community for bullying prevention. Aim: To reveal social educators view towards bullying prevention implementation. Goals: 1. By analysing scientific literature, define the concept of bullying in a school environment, its causes and consequences, to analyse levels of bullying prevention implementation and to define the roles of a social educator in implementing bullying prevention. 2. Through quantitative research methods, determine the current situation of bullying at school and its problematic areas which under social educators evaluation need more attention. 3. Through quantitative research methods, establish social educator‘s paramount activities in bullying prevention implementation on school, classroom and individual levels. 4. Through quantitative research methods, to identify key issues and areas for improvement, which imply that in schools not all areas of bullying prevention are pursued. Survey sample: Social educators from schools all over Lithuania were interviewed. 278 social educators were included in the general sample, of which 126 completed the questionnaire. The sample from all over Lithuania was chosen, because the idea was to collect as many respondents as possible. The survey was conducted in 2015 from April 7 to April 12. Research methods: Scientific literature analysis. The analysis of scientific literature enabled to reveal the concept of bullying at school, bullying outcomes, bullying prevention levels, bullying prevention programmes implemented at schools, and social educator’s role in bullying prevention. On the grounds of scientific literature analysis, operationalization of the surveyed object was performed and questionnaire compiled. The questionnaire-based interview was conducted in order to find out social educators’ views towards bullying prevention implementation. The questionnaire consisted of 20 questions, 16 of which were closed type ones. |
