Abstract [eng] In the thesis the review of theoretical literature and the empirical qualitative data analysis of possibilities of solving social problems of pupils who attend daycare center was carried out. Five pupils who attend day care center, five parents whose children attend the daycare center and the employees of the daycare center: two social workers and one social pedagogue participated in the empirical research. By the help of half-structured interview method the research whose aim is to reveal the possibilities of solving social problems of pupils who attend daycare center was conveyed. Tasks: 1. By the help of the theoretical literature analysis to describe the experiences of children who experience social problems. 2. While using the method of literature analysis to reveal what help is rendered to the children of social risk groups through children day care centers. 3. While using interview method to capture the opinion on the social problems of the pupils, who attend the daycare center, parents, social workers and social pedagogues and the possibilities to solve them 4. By comparing and collating the opinions of the pupils, who attend the daycare center, parents, the social workers and social pedagogues who work in the daycare to identify the strategies of solving the social problems of pupils who attend the daycare center. Conclusions: 1. In the theoretical analysis the experiences of the children who face social problems are described: the addictions of parents; possible manifestations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. It is all reflected on physiological and psychological development of a child. They do not feel safe at home, they tend not to trust others and themselves, they experience difficulties while communicating with others. In the social risk families the environment is created which does not encourage child’s development; the possibilities to express needs and feelings are limited; the lack of social skills appear; children rights are not secured. 2. While using the method of literature analysis it was revealed that the free time activities organized for social risk group children in the daycare center are as follows: games, trips, excursions, sport competitions, quizzes and summer camps. The consultations for the families are also important: individual and group talks with family members, specialist consultations and case studies. By the activities and the help of workers and specialists of the daycare center it is striven to model the communication and behavior of the pupils. By the help of precautionary programmes it is striven to achieve integration to school and society. It is organized the help with homework, training of social and personal hygiene skills. 3. According to the results of qualitative research the pupils in their families experience: the consequences of their parents’ alcoholism, violence, neglect, tension, difficulties of friendship with their peers, the lack of motivation to study communication difficulties and bullies in their educational institutions. These problems are overcome with the help of the center: the satisfaction of basic needs; occupation; doing homework; the training of communication and other skills. 4. The strategies to solve these problems were identified: • security of safe environment, unconditional reception and individual relationship and communication with the pupil in the children daycare center; • organization of activities, occupation and help with the homework; • satisfaction of basic needs, training of skills, solving of conflicts; the work strategy needed is the development of self-esteem of pupil.
