Abstract [eng] The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the idea of transhumanism. The research is based on the theoretical and methodological approach of historical ontology developed by the philosopher and historian of science Ian Hacking. The main aim of the research is to reconstruct the principles of transhumanism and their epistemological and ontological implications employing the method of historical ontology and, on the basis of this reconstruction, to assess whether the principles of transhumanism make it a feasible/ultimate goal-achieving programme. The dissertation proves that, from the perspective of historical ontology, transhumanism, if construed as an attempt to overcome the inherent biological and ontological limitations of human beings with the technological tools provided by the expanding scientific and technological knowledge, is an inherently contradictory and self-negating project.
