| Abstract [eng] |
The article analyzes the constitutional status of churches and other religious organizations in Lithuania. In the first part, the author examines the constitutional concept of churches and other religious organizations as wellasand the constitutional model of cooperation between the state and the church. In the second part, the author analyzes the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court and the scientific findings of Lithuanian constitutional law on the issue of the constitutional relations between the state and the church. In the conclusions, the author states that the concept of separation of state and church used by the Constitutional Court should be understood in the context of the said model of cooperation. It also summarizes the arguments for why Article 43 of the Constitution lists two rather than three forms of legal status for churches and other religious organizations. |
