The article deals with specific features of information resources management in Vilnius University Library (hereafter VU Library) during the last 5 years. Taking into account changes in information environment and urgency of their management in order to secure organizations survival and success, to shape position of the library as being an integral part of the university and partner of the academic community, the main activities safeguarding such a position were identified. In spite of the change in focuses, implementation of the main library functions is concurrent with library information resources - acquired and preserved collections, resources that have been already acquired or are planned to be aequired, their proper management. Choice of the optimal decisions is based on evaluation using suitable instruments. The article describes evaluation of VU Library informatikon resources using Conspectus tool, summarizes results and presents decisions made on the basis of acquired results: introduction of subject and personal librarians functions into VU Library activities schema; correction of VU Library information resources development strategy and creation of a new \"political\" document, pilot project on Patron driven acquisition. |
