Based on the theoretical analysis there were selected key factors that influence the foreign direct investment to the country and attracting FDI distribution among regions of the country. The empirical study was carried out to assess the Lithuanian regional economic opportunities and abilities to attract foreign direct investment, and to assess how the dissemination of FDI in the regions explains the regional labor force level, the regional level of economic development, the regional financial stability level and the regional infrastructure level. The hypotheses, which were formulated by the author of the master’s thesis, showed that the distribution of the FDI among the regions of the country depends on as many working-age population lives in the region, how economically strong is region and how the region’s average wages are close to the country’s average wages.
