Abstract [eng] Thesis title. Experience of Dance Movement Therapy for Women Undergoing a Divorce Crisis. Objective. To reveal the experience of dance-movement therapy for women undergoing a divorce crisis. Participants. Four women aged 32-44 who are surviving a divorce and living in the Vilnius City Crisis Center during the study. Methods. The study aims to reveal the experiences for women undergoing a divorce crisis in dance-movement therapy. A qualitative research strategy was chosen to reveal this. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews, and data analysis was performed by the method of reflective thematic analysis according to Braun and Clarke. The research was conducted at the Vilnius City Crisis Center during the research practice, started live and completed in a virtual space. I independently prepared the research methodology, reviewed the literature, conducted the research, analyzed the research data, and prepared recommendations. Results. The study highlighted four important themes in the experience of dance-movement therapy: The importance of communion in human life; The necessity of internal and external freedom; Self-knowledge through DMT: Towards positive personal change; DMT as a tool for cognition and expression of emotions and feelings. Conclusions. Divorce is a complex and transformative phase with various consequences - emotional, psychological, physical, as well as social. At this stage of the crisis, it is difficult to regulate feelings and emotions, so it is important to strengthen a woman's emotional and physical health and promote social integration. The body, in dance-movement therapy, is a major tool, but it interacts with a person’s mind and feelings. Dance-movement therapy is based on the fundamental perception that through dance, a person is connected to the community and at the same time can express their impulses and needs in that group. As they move, women affirm their value and sense of belonging to the community. Participants in the study expressed a strong need for physical activity, noting that movement helps to relax and reduce stress. The importance of community and social support was also highlighted. Keywords. Divorce, dance-movement therapy, qualitative research, trauma, psychological crisis.
