Abstract [eng] Analyses of theoretical research has been carried out on concepts of sex and sexuality among teenagers and women providing sexual services and attitudes towards the importance of sexual education influencing shaping their sexual identity and sex behavior. Hypothesis was raised that unfavorable socio-cultural environment in the family, insufficient sex education in school preconditions formations of sex identity problems and unsafe sex behavior among teenagers. The research was done using the focus groups and semi standardized type of interview methods with the aim to reveal importance of sex education in shaping sex identity and sex behavior. The method of qualitative interpretation (content analyses) was applied. The scope of research included 7 teenagers of „N” high school (gymnasium), 9 teenagers of „N” secondary school in Siauliai and 10 women providing sexual services. Empirical part of the research investigates sexual tendencies of teenagers, prevalence of early sexual relations, motives, consequences, understanding of sexuality and the ways of sex education in secondary schools forming socializing and decision making skills. The most important empirical conclusions that were drawn are: • The Ministry of Education and Science has not structured yet the concept of sex education in secondary schools. Curently, there exists opposition between integrated sex education in secondary education curriculum and sex education in accordance to the needs of the learners. • Lack of sex education and insufficient efficiency in educational institutions, poor role of parents, unfavorable social-cultural environment in families precondition formation of sex identity problems and unsafe sex behavior teenagers. • Both teenagers and women providing sexual services do not make difference between sex and sexuality in general, justify early sexual relations, and lack conscious motivation of avoiding early random sexual relations. • Teenagers do not trust parents’ information on issues of sex, therefore, schools aiming intensive partnership with the families in sex education of children, should organize education of parents and provide them with pedagogical and psychological knowledge on how to deal with children on various topics of sex. • Teenagers are motivated to participate in sex education programmes in after-school or individual activities. According to them, an independent course on sex education should be introduced in schools for senior students while an integrated course should be in primary school. The hypothetical model emphasizes relevant topics of sex education relating to reproduction health. • Women providing sexual services have negative attitudes towards sex education in school. It preconditions risky sex behavior which is harmful to health.
