Many countries have taken legal measures to promote mediation. Lithuania is no different, introducing compulsory mediation for family disputes settled by litigation on 1 January 2020. The main objective of this paper is to examine the concept of compulsory mediation and to assess the effectiveness of the regulation of compulsory mediation in Lithuania. The paper briefly discusses the regulation of compulsory mediation and the problems that have emerged, as well as the limitation of the principle of voluntariness and the individual's right to access to court. |
