The Master Thesis covers the highlighted problems in social policy management within the municipality. It also includes the theoretical and practical aspects of strategic management in the public sector which have been sifted through and systematised by different Lithuanian and foreign authors. This Master Thesis includes a number of investigations. Among such investigations is the statistical data analysis of the social policy situation in Member States of the European Union, Lithuania and Tauragė district municipality, which has been carried out in order to determine the tendencies of the social policy situation. Also, there have been empirical investigations carried out concerning the assessment and development opportunities of social security and work system activities in Tauragė district municipality by applying methods of document analysis and expert survey. The expert survey involved representatives from such institutions as the Department of Social Aid of Tauragė district municipality, Tauragė Territorial Labour Exchange, Tauragė Territorial Division of the State Social Insurance Fund Board. The following strategic priorities of social policy development in Tauragė district municipality have been formulated and motivated based on the results of the research: 1) Development of infrastructure of social services provided to the citizens; 2) Support to the citizens that wish to obtain qualifications and new work skills. Conclusions and recommendations for the development of social policy activities in Tauragė district municipality have been presented. |
