Analysis of suicides among adolescents and disclosure of preventive means may result in a better understanding and assistance for adolescents during crisis, as well as to prove that teenagers can look for a help and make better solutions even in the most difficult situations. Object of the Research. Suicides among adolescents and preventive measures. Aim of the Research. To disclose the main factors indicated by students of 15-17 year old, that influence suicides among adolescents and to identify possible preventive means and essential assistance sources in the aspect of children right protection. Basis, Sample and Methodology of the Research. The research was conducted in 2011. In the research participated adolescents of 15 – 17 year old and children right protection specialists from the largest cities of Lithuania (Šiauliai, Vilnius, Klaipėda, Kaunas) and districts. 297 respondents participated in the research: 248 adolescents of 15-17 year old and 49 children right protection specialists. Quantitative questionnaire has been used in the research. The test group was drawn up perchance. The research is based on the principles of autonomy and anonymity. By anonymity it was intended to get authentic and straightforward answers to the open questions. For the adolescents of 15-17 year old the questionnaire of mixed type was given. In the questionnaire there were 22 questions. For the specialists of children right protection the mixed type questionnaire with 27 questions has been provided. Structure of the Research: summary, definition of notions, introduction, 2 sections (theoretical part where the analysis of literature and generalization is provided; practical part provides data of the research and its analysis), conclusion, recommendations, bibliography, 3 appendices. 11 tables and 17 pictures are used in the research. The research shows that adolescents and children right protection specialists agree that suicides among adolescents are an actual problem. Respondents agree that all rights of the children are equally important. Both groups of respondents also agree that suicide may be related to violation of child’s right. Adolescents assume that because of violation of “child’s right to a personal life” a teenager may commit a suicide, while children right protection workers think that “child’s right to individuality” may impact teenager suicide. The family has a substantial effect on whether teen will be prone to suicidal behaviour or not. Respondents assert that in order to reduce the number of teen suicides there is a need to pay attention to the prevention of violation of child’s physical and emotional violence right. Hypothesis that suicide is the result of the violation of child’s right has been proven true; as a result, prevention of suicides should be implemented in the context of children right protection.
