The country’s current account imbalance problems and their influencing factors are formulated in the Master’s work. The theoretical and practical research works of different Lithuanian and foreign authors on current account balance and its impact on the economic growth are analyzed and systematized in this work by highlighting the methods of assessment, indicators and criteria. The analysis of Lithuania’s current account balance and the dynamics of its structural parts in 2000 – 2011 period are made. The factors that caused the changes are disclosed too. The country’s current account balance, based on the variation analysis of relative economic factors, is evaluated for the recent period like being hazardous. With the help of correlation – regression analysis, the phenomenon’s impact on the country’s economy (GDP per capita variation), both, the current account balance and its constituent parts with their components are thoroughly and in detail analyzed in this work. The hypothesis of scientific research, that the country’s current account balance and its management has a great influence on its economic growth, is confirmed. Taking into consideration the results of empirical research, the factors that might contribute to the country’s economic growth, are pointed out. |
