Abstract [eng] Theoretical analysis of social pedagogical help concept, legal aspects, social pedagogue’s socio-educational assistance areas and its organizational peculiarities is done in the work. Analysis of the theoretical aspects of drawing the parents into socio-education assistance providing process is also performed. Semi-structured interview was used to perform the study aimed to disclose how parents assess socio-educational assistance provision in the mainstream school. Content analysis of the interview was done. Parents of 6-7th formers, 3 from Siauliai city and 3 from Siauliai district mainstream schools with socio-educational help offered participated in the study. Empirical part analyses how parents assess the main assistance areas available for the children and family, communication, co-operation between themselves and the specialists as well as the specialist’s efforts in drawing them into arrangement of socio-educational assistance, passing important decisions. The main conclusions of the empirical study: 1. Most of the parents assess positively the socio-educational assistance. Parents are satisfied that the social pedagogue pays much attention at family consulting, informing and education on the legal, social assistance and other matters related with the child education. 2. Parents negatively see the communication, co-operation between themselves and the specialists. Just formal, insufficiently close relations were found, which lack confidence, understanding, acknowledgement of the both parties’ importance. 3. Parent’s views of their drawing into problem solving are twofold. A part of the drawn parents are happy with being no left aside in the course of solving the child’s problems. Remaining respondents say their opinions and suggestions are often not taken into consideration.
