Abstract [eng] In nowadays society the tempo of learning is high, knowledge becomes the most valued possession. Continuous studying becomes essential to keep the job or to be able to compete in the market. More than 60 percent of all the higher education graduates in Lithuania are women. However, their salaries are still lower than men's, professions are still divided into manly and womanly and the amount of their housework is still large. Though the law assures protection from sexual discrimination, the problem still exists. Object of the research: Women career development in a context of continuous learning Aim of the research: To analyse women career development in a context of continuous learning Research methods and sampling: analysis of academic literature, analysis of documents, questionnaires, statistical analysis of research data using SPPS 19.0 and Microsoft Excel programs. Empirical research was carried out in November - December, 2011. For the research 203 questionnaires were made and given away. 193 filled in questionnaires were received. Respondents were chosen relying on the convenience principle using non-probability sampling. The easily accessible elements of population were involved in the sampling. During the research it was established that the respondents believe that the studies will help them to realise themselves, upgrade their professional qualification, get general and specialized competences. However, it was also established that women often face such problems as stress, lack of work experience, high competition for jobs, small salaries and long working hours. It was identified that in our society there are stereotypes which hinder women career development. One of the main stereotypes is the division of professions into manly and womanly.
