Every crisis is an existential trial when one experiences a deep psychical impact, an overturn, that brakes down or that can reinforce one by offering the new attitude towards one’s life and opportunities. Children, as well as the adults get into problematic and sometimes uncontrollable situations and changes in their life that they must deal with. It is essential to admit that a child reacts even to the most minor alterations. They often seem of little account for adults; however, a child may find it very difficult to get out of the situation. The negotiation of crisis depends not only on the individual child’s characteristics – his age, psychological resistance, problem solving and other social skills, but also on his environment. If the people from the closest environment of the child experience crisis the ability to get support from them is greatly reduced or eliminated. In this case it is critical to acquire help from the mental health specialists – psychologist, psychotherapist psychiatrist and social specialists – children’s rights ombudsman institution workers, social educators, social workers. The Object of the investigation: crises of adolescents’ behavior in comprehensive schools. The Aim of the investigation: to evaluate the indications and spread of adolescents’ crises ant the possibilities of their prevention. The Method of the investigation: in order to define the spread of the adolescents’ crises and the possibilities of their prevention and intervention in comprehensive schools the quantitative research was made. Three schools of the Mažeikiai district have participated in the research. Alltogether 143 adolescents (from forms 8-12) and 37 teachers were surveyed. In order to reach the aim of the investigation and to prove/deny the hypothesis a questionnaire and the analysis of scientific literature were used. It was set, that crisis of behavior is a very serious problem in comprehensive schools. Although enough preventive events which give adolescents knowledge and social skills in solving crises of behavior are organized, most adolescents remain passive observers or do not participate there at all. Thus, referring to the results of the investigation, it can be stated that the reason of this can be the insufficient teachers’ knowledge about the adolescents’ behavior crises. Most teachers have not got the right competence and qualification to work with the adolescents’ behavior crises, their prevention and intervention. |
