Cultural institutions, such as galleries, are not only the city and country, but also the world‘s progress assumption. Galleries are one of the key factors that make cities more open and attractive. Also, the activities of art galleries can be identified as one of the most remarkable creative industries. This Master‘s Thesis analyzes the activity of Šiauliai city galleries. The main goal is to analyze the performance of Šiauliai city art galleries in the world‘s comparative perspective, creative industries point of view and in terms of artistry and cluster interactions. Master‘s Thesis is based on scientific literature, articles, documents that reveal the development of art galleries, the world‘s and the city of Šiauliai galleries operating principles. According to the tasks, there is analysis of the history of exhibitions and galleries development and the comparative world‘s galleries performance models. Also, research of how the Šiauliai city galleries present and perform their work. The research part was carried out using semi-structured interview method and interviewing industry experts. It presents the activities and performance of the Šiauliai city galleries, their links to the other cultural and business organizations, what is the main focus of artistic and creative activities, how galleries share same activities and create exclusivity and originality, what world‘s galleries operating principles are noticed and adapted to their own institutions. |
