There has been no resumptive work on historically the most significant objects in Šiauliai, related to the city‘s community according to the purpose and function, except for publications, articles, brochures dedicated to separate architectural objects. This master thesis includes five eras and styles which left deep traces in the architecture of Šiauliai city: renaissance, classicism, historicism, modernism, constructionism. The buildings have been mentioned built in various times which one way or another influenced the development of the history of Šiauliai city. The work has been written referring to the material of historic and cultural research published by Lithuanian authors and publications in the periodic press. Material used as illustrations: the postcard catalogue “Old Šiauliai in Postcards from 1902 till 1944” published by Šiauliai “Aušros“ museum in 2006, the material from the collections of the museum of Šiaulių J. Janonio gymnasium and Šiaulių “Aušros“ museum as well as the photographs made by the master student himself. The descriptive hypothesis has been applied to the work of art history. |
